- 💊 Beta-lactam antibiotic, resistant to bacterial lactamase.
- 🎯 Narrow-spectrum bactericidal agent.
⚙️ Action
- 🔗 Inhibits cross-linking of peptidoglycans in bacterial cell wall.
- 🦠 Active against penicillin-sensitive infections, endocarditis, osteomyelitis.
💉 Indications / Dose
- 🦠 Staphylococcal infections: cellulitis, impetigo, surgical wounds, pneumonia, osteomyelitis, endocarditis.
- 👂 Otitis externa.
- 📦 Mild infections: 250–500 mg PO 6-hourly, taken 30 minutes before food.
- 🏥 Moderate/Severe infections: 500 mg – 2 g IV 6-hourly.

- 🚫 Penicillin allergy.
- 🚫 Previous liver dysfunction associated with flucloxacillin.
💥 Side Effects
- 😷 Hypersensitivity: anaphylaxis, rash, urticaria, arthralgia.
- 🧪 Hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice (may occur even after stopping the drug).
- 📆 Prolonged use (>14 days) increases risk of cholestatic jaundice.
